Velvet Underground versus REM

I'm a bit behind, are Oingy_Boingy and Oingy_Boingo the people they say they are in my signatures?

Velvet Undeground vs REM.

What kind of conest of that.

Two different bands, with two different musical styles, two different ethos'. It's a joke, you can't say which one is better when they are so different.

On what criteria are they being judged? The VU were undoubtedly a ground breaking band music and attitude wise, whereas REM brought us jangly ballads (The Byrds anyone?).

Anyhoo I like both bands, but to compare one to the other is ridiculous.

then i guess that explains why REM did quite
a few covers of VU songs on the DEAD LETTER album.

Velevet Underground would probably win even tho the geetarist (and some one else i think) is dead, cos the drummer left REM so they are down to three members and one is a hom. VU are from NYC so they are pretty bad ass for a girls band. But REM are from the deep south so they could get some Klan buddies to help. Having said that, the velvet underground could get some drag queens on their side, and they fight nasty.
